Biography of Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan Salfi

His studies

Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan Salfi read the Quran in his village and memorised some Surah and entered Government school. In his village, he studied the complete translation of the Quran and studied in school up to Primary.

Afterwards he joined the Madrasah “Dar Al-Huda” near Mian Channu. He memorised the preliminary books of Arabic grammar and morphology and studied books of Hadith and different Islamic sciences up to Sunnan Tirmidhi. He also studied books of Arabic grammar “Kafiyah” and “Shafiyah”.

Then Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan Salafi joined Jamiyah Taqwiyatul Islam (OdlanWala) and he studied there for 2 years and completed the following books: “Sunnan Abi Dawood”, “Sahih Muslim”, “Sahih Bukhari”, “Jami Al-Bayan”, “Al-Fiyah ibn Malik” (in grammar), “Hamasah”, “Mutanabbi”, “Muhit Ad-Daairah”, “Tafsir Baydhawi”, “Muwatta Imam Malik”, “Sharh Nukhbatul Fikar”, “Al-Hidayah”, “Tarikh Al-Adab Al-Arabi”, “Mukhtasar Al-Ma’ani”, “Al-Mutawal” and other books.

He joined afterwards Jamiyah Muhammadiyah in Gujranwala and studied again Sahih Al-Bukhari from Hafiz Muhammad Gondalwi. He studied in Jamiyah Muhammadiyah also the following books: “Hujjatullah Al-Balighah”, “Tawdih Al-Talwih”, “Siraji”, “Ilm Hay’at At-Tasrih”, “Sharh Charghmini”, Rasheediyah” (Book about debate), “Sullam Al-Ulum” and “Mulla Hasan” in Mantiq, “Shams Bazighah”, “Sadrah” “Hamdullah”, “Qadhi Mubarak”, “Mir Zahid” in philosophy, and also “Sharh Aqidah Tahawiyah”, “Sharh Aqaid Nasafi”, “Irshad Al-Fuhul”, “Musalam Ath-Thubut”, “Sharh Jami” and “Aqlidis” in Engineering.

His teaching

In 1979 upon the request of Shaykh Muhammad Yusuf Rajwali, he taught for a year in Dar Al-Hadith Rajwal.

In 1980, he went to study with Hafiz AbdurRahman Madni and after studying for a week, he was appointed as teacher by Hafiz AbdurRahman Madni in his Jamiah. Shaykh Ramzan Salfi taught there for a year and through the efforts of Hafiz AbdurRahman Madni, he was accepted in Jamiyah Al-Imam Muhammad ibn Su’ud Al-Islamiyah in Riyadh.

His further studies in KSA

As he passed successfully the test of Arabic language of Jamiyah Al-Imam, he was send for a year in “Al-Ma’ad Al-Ilmi At-Tabi’ li Jamiyah Al-Imam” in Makkah.

Afterwards he joined “Kulliyah Shari’ah wa Usul Ad-Din” of Jamiyah Al-Imam and studied there for 3 years and completed three thesis on the topics:

a) “Dhawabit wa Taqdeem Al-Jarh wa Ta’deel” (Arabic)

b) “Alamiyah Al-Islam” (Arabic on the universality of Islam)

c) “Shaykh Al-Islam ibn Taymiyah wa Manhajuhu As-Salafi”

 His teaching after returning from KSA

In 1986, after graduating from Jamiyah Al-Imam Muhammad ibn Su’ud Al-Islamiyah, he became teacher at Jamiyah Lahore Islamiyah (known as Jamiyah Rehmaniyah) of Hafiz AbdurRahman Madni in Garden Town Lahore and taught there up to 2022.

Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan Salafi wrote many verified articles in the magazine “Mohadis” and others.

“Minhatul Bari Sharh Sahih Al-Buklhari”: which are the notes of his teacher Hafiz Muhammad Gondalwi which he copied from his lessons of Sahih Al-Bukhari and to which he added his own Sharh on Sahih Al-Bukhari. 8 volumes of this explanation of Sahih Al-Bukhari have been published by Maktabah Qudusiyah in conjunction with Dar ibn Basheer of Shaykh Basheer Husaynwi, who is a student of Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan Salfi. Insha Allah more volumes are to be published.
